Dear CMF Family,
I hope you continue to stay safe and well during this time. As you know, our Music Therapy program had been temporarily halted due to the recent COVID-19 restrictions. In order to preserve our mission, we quickly transitioned our sessions to Telehealth Music Therapy.
When we last connected, I shared a story about 4-year-old named Emma, who has been battling leukemia. Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor, Emma began receiving Telehealth Music Therapy sessions from the comfort of her own home. The photo above was taken during a session with Eiress, one of our talented Music Therapists, just before her next round of chemotherapy. Yes, Emma’s doll joined the session with her, as did her mom.
Eiress was able to transform Emma’s fear of butterfly needles, a device commonly used to deliver intravenous (IV) chemotherapy, into a beautiful butterfly song. Emma will continue to receive Telehealth Music Therapy in weekly intervals, as she overcomes her fear, pain and anxiety while singing her special butterfly song, and many other soothing melodies to come.
There are countless other high-risk, sick children like Emma who continue to be confined to their homes or their hospital beds in isolation. Sadly, the only sound these children hear may be the constant beeping of an IV pump, the crying of another child, or perhaps worse, silence.
Children’s Music Fund is determined to improve the experience of these children by launching a new campaign to fund Telehealth Music Therapy. Our goal is to raise $250,000 to provide Music Therapy sessions and related services for more children in their homes and hospitals.
Please join us today in support of #GivingTuesdayNow which takes place on May 5, 2020. It is a designated day of giving for people around the world to stand together in unity and use their individual power of generosity to help nonprofits in need resulting from the COVID-19 crisis.
Don’t wait, help a child heal through music. Your donation of any amount will help to provide Music Therapy to these vulnerable children, bringing them joy and desperately needed social interactions.
Thank you for supporting our CMF Kids and be well.
With gratitude,
