2020 has been a tumultuous year that has affected every individual, home and family. As the year comes to a close, recognizing the blessings we have been granted will bring a sense of humility, joy and hope.
This year at Children’s Music Fund, we celebrate the holidays by showing appreciation for our staff and volunteers that worked hard throughout the year to provide our CMF Kids with the necessary services to inspire hope and comfort on their health journey. Despite the ongoing threat and complications that COVID-19 brought upon our organization, we stayed dedicated to our mission.
Staff members, led by founder and president, Dr. Raffi Tachdjian, and our dedicated board of directors worked in constant cooperation with our volunteers, ambassadors, and supporters to spread love and provide comfort to sick children during this pandemic, especially with the increased sense of isolation creating more challenges.
Fundraising is essential to the operation of our nonprofit, and coronavirus has upset many of those in-person opportunities. With the assistance and generosity from our CMF annual sponsors, corporations and countless individuals hosting fundraisers and making individual donations, we were able to provide online Music Therapy services during the year. This was done while also improving systems to ready us to bring back Music Therapy to children in hospitals when conditions permit.
Your generosity helped little Emma, who was our first patient to experience Telehealth Music Therapy. She found a way to overcome her fears and stay connected to her Music Therapist, and thus, remain rooted in her inner peace and strength. We are delighted to report that she is doing well.
In addition, endless thanks are extended to our Music Therapists, who remained the rock of our organization and shone a bright beacon of light to guide us out of these dark times. Through the donations we received, they helped to place instruments and portable recording studios in two pediatric wards during the year, so Children’s Music Fund was able to persevere and bring additional healing for the mind, body and soul of our children even when we could not be there in person.
The importance of giving back is immeasurable. By coordinating with groups like #GivingTuesday you can find a way to give back to your community every single day. This annual worldwide gratitude initiative designates a day for everyone to be able to come together and show kindness in all forms of generosity. Whether through your voice, time, money, goods, or advocacy of organizations like Children’s Music Fund, you can make a substantial difference in the lives of others around you.
By unleashing the power of gratitude in every individual, our world will not only become a better place during the holidays, but it will reflect the strength, kindness and beauty of humankind every day. Thank you always for your support.
