CMF’s new program at White Memorial Medical Center in East Los Angeles

Music Specialist Michael Aljadeff works hands-on with pediatric patients each week, getting them out of their hospital rooms and into the MUSIC ROOM! Children who are in isolation and cannot leave their hospital rooms, or who do not feel well enough to join the group session receive a bedside visit from Michael who helps ease feelings of sadness, loneliness and pain through music playing and interactive music-making. White Memorial is getting some good mileage out of their child-and-hospital-friendly musical instruments, donated by CMF in December.

CMF donated instruments to start music therapy program at White Memorial Medical Center in Los Angeles

CMF donated a heap of new instruments to White Memorial Medical Center (WMMC) just in time for the holidays at their annual Cleft Palate Program Holiday Party. The hospital will use these keyboards, guitars, drums and other percussion-type instruments to start their first pediatric music program. Board member Talin Babikian surprised the hospital with an announcement that CMF will also provide groups of pediatric patients at WMMC with music therapy in 2012. The hospital presented CMF with an official Certificate of Appreciation and an adorable plaque featuring the artwork of a young patient. Many thanks to our partners Coachart, West LA Music and Casio for your support, and to volunteers Lindsay Henry, Mary Goodarzi, Lily Vartanyan, Monica Aben & Jake Giles Netter for your amazing work and dedication!
